Things To Consider Before Going Solar

By hvrsolar | Uncategorized

Solar energy is the solution for a better future, it can reduce carbon footprints, it can save us from heavy electricity bills, it is low maintenance, long-lasting and what not? We all know about these benefits of using solar energy in our lives. These benefits of going solar along with government-provided subsidy are making people switch to solar rapidly in India.

While these things are absolutely true, there are several things you must consider before deciding to go solar.

  1. Rooftop condition, layout & material

Solar panels are highly durable. This is one of the most interesting things about it. A solar panel system can last for more than 25- 30 years. However, this depends on a lot of factors, such as the condition of the rooftop, layout, and material of the rooftop it is installed. For example- asphalt roofs usually last around twenty years; hence the roof needs to be in excellent condition before installing solar panels. To make way for roof work, it can be quite challenging to remove and reinstall solar panels. If required, it’s better to repair any damage or replace the roof altogether before getting the solar power system installed on the rooftop.

  1. Area

Location is another important factor to consider before going solar. To get full advantage of a solar panel system, the basic requirement is solar light in abundance. India is a tropical country and receives solar radiation almost throughout the year in almost every part of the country. However, if you live in the western or southern part of the country, then you’ll produce more solar energy compared to those living in the eastern or northern parts of the country. However, if you’re living in states with cloudy weather, you can still benefit from solar panels by installing extra panels to cover up for the lower energy production.

  1. Solar panel options

While traditional, roof-mounted solar panel systems are the most popular choices, ground-mounted, and movable panels are the other options.

The ground-mounted array can be installed anywhere on a piece of land. This is an ideal option for those with north-facing roofs or with not enough roof space. Though it’s a very good option, the ground-mounted solar systems are more expensive, as they require more labor and materials than a roof-mounted solar system.

Talking about the movable panels, you can mount your panels with a tracker that moves panels to follow the sun. Basically, the mount helps in tracking the path of the sun in order to produce more power. However, the catch here is that such solar power systems are highly expensive.

  1. Warranty

Getting solar panels installed is an expensive investment initially. It is very important to make sure it lasts long. Hence, you must look for a decent warranty from the supplier before getting the solar power system installed at your home or office.

  1. Right installation company

Like other things, it is an important step to ensure maximum benefits from the solar power system. The company you choose to get the solar panels installed must be reliable in terms of expertise, experience, knowledge, and a proven track record. HVR Solar is one such solar manufacturer and supplier with such a qualified team that can help you with your solar needs. The company has a reliable customer base all over India and they are great in terms of providing after-sales services as well.

Yes! It’s high time you think about going solar but consider above-mentioned facts to avail maximum benefits from it.
